A Ernest Hemingway was a famous American writer. He was born in 1899 and died in 1961. He was a very popular author who wrote about his war-time experiences as a soldier and as a journalist. He won several prizes for his work as a novelist and as a journalist. His most famous novels are A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls and The Old Man and the Sea. Most of his books became successful films and are still popular today.
B Alfred Hitchcock was a famous British film director. He was born in 1899 and died in 1980. He was well-known for making exciting thrillers and he directed the first successful British talking film. He moved to Hollywood where he directed many more successful thrillers. The most famous are Psycho, The Birds, Rear Window and Vertigo. Hitchcock liked to appear in his own films and often played a person in a crowd or a passenger on a train. His films are still very thrilling to watch and are often on TV all over the world.
